First Under-display camera smartphone by Xiaomi
Xiaomi has been working on an under-display camera and it the first company that introduces the prototype of an under-display front-facing camera smartphone. Oppo also takes part in this race and they also revealed a smartphone that shows an invisible camera front-facing camera. Lets go digital has shared this pattern describing and recording this technology. Lu Weibing VP of Xiaomi said that the dense pixels modern displays have. Which are to be in front of the under-display camera, were blocking too much light. To give you the full view display experience.
After showing a prototype. Xiaomi Mobile Software filed a design patent with CNIPA (China Intellectual Property Administration) for a smartphone with an under-screen camera. The patent was approved on April 24, 2020. After which it was published in the WIPO Global Design database, for the worldwide protection of this design.
To get a better idea of patent design, graphic designer Jermaine Smit, also known as the concept creator. Commissioned LetsGoDigital to create a series of demos using patent photos. These illustrations give a good first impression.
The pattern shows that the top of the display housing a receiver. front-facing camera could be place at the top middle or top left of the display. The selfie camera became transparent when it is use and other times it will go normal and gives you full-screen experience much like what we saw in popup camera smartphones.
Patterns also show that the back has a triple camera setup. On the bottom, a speaker grilled, and USB Type-C port. And right-hand side there’s the volume rocker and power button
The mobile technology has so much increase from the past few years. We have seen mobiles with thick bezels to notches and now experiencing Full-Screen smartphones.
