After the ban of 59 Chinese Apps last month, Now Indian govt. drawing a list of 275 Chinese Apps to ban. The reason for banning the Apps are a violation of national security and privacy concern of the users.
The Government is now examining these Apps and will ban if they find security and privacy flaws. Including PUB-G, the most popular gaming apps are also on the list. It also includes some of the popular Apps like, Alibaba, AliExpress, Zilli by Xiaomi, and Russo by TikTok developers.
According to sources cited in the report, “the government may not ban all, Some of these apps are marked with a red flag for security reasons. But other apps are listed due to data sharing breaches and privacy concerns, and the government is reportedly investigating the source of funding of those apps and services as well.
The new list of apps reviewed includes 14 apps from smartphone giant Xiaomi. It also includes apps and services like Meitu, LBE Tech, Perfect Corp, Sina Corp, and Netease Games. Supercell, based in Helsinki, Finland, is also receiving investments from Chinese tech companies. Tencent bought a controlling stake in a games company last year.
The Home Minister did not answer the question. However, an official from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEIT) said the Indian government would follow proper procedures before taking the ban. “There is a process. There is a committee for such a ban. If there is such an order, MEIT will act,” they said.
